We always love a farm, with the sweet animals and family fun.
But Kline Creek Farm has a slight difference – it's a farm with a historic twist! Not only can kids experience a farm, but they can also go back in time to the 1890s! The whole farm can show them what life was like on a DuPage County Farm over a century ago - pretty amazing!
The whole family can stroll through this restored farmstead and hear about all the stories of living on this farm through historically-costumed interpreters! They even use tools and techniques of the past.
How different do you think it is to now? Pretty different we imagine!
The activities that the kids can learn about cover a lot! Baking, harvesting, ice cutting (you never know when you'll need it!), sheep shearing, canning (if you don't know what that is, all the more reason to visit!) and planting.
The Farmstead used to be the center of all the domestic activities, and actually contains some original artifacts, as well as reproductions, so the homely atmosphere really comes across.
Depending on the time of the year, the staff even plant fruits and vegetables in the kitchen garden, work in the wagon shed and even tend to the orchard.
Maybe you will see them smoking sausages in the smoke house!
Of course - there are animals! Cattle, chickens and sheep call the farm home.
They sound like they are busy as a bee! Which makes sense when you hear there is beekeeping at Kline Creek Farm too! Have you ever seen where honey comes from?
Timber Ridge Visitor Center displays exhibits of the past, as well as houses the very important gift shop!
Enjoy your day at the farm!
